Unveiled February 14, 2021, The West Oakland Mural Project is: a Revolutionary Mural and Museum. The Mural is a 2000-square-foot public art masterpiece, installed on a private home in the heart of West Oakland, CA. Painted by Rachel Wolfe-Goldsmith and envisioned and curated by long time Oaklander Jilchristina Vest, this mural recognizes and honors the role of the Women in The Movement and all they did for the communities they served.
From 1966 to 1982 they fought for the liberation of all Black, poor and oppressed people.

The project was concieved in June 2020, installation began in late January 2021 and The Mural was completed in June 2021
at the same time as the grand opening of The Museum!
This Mural gives every viewer the opportunity to learn and say the names of women that were members of this revoluitonary group .
and the collection of names, included on the side of the house, continues to grow.
The Mural is the first and only project acknowledging and honoring the legacy of these women warriors,
long left in the shadows, eve though they made up nearly 70% of the members.

On the first floor of the same home is the country's first museum dedicated to honoring this legacy,
a beautiful 1000sqft museum highlighting what it looks like to
Serve The People,
Body And Soul.

The mural is located on the side of a private home in
West Oakland, Ca. on the corner of Center Street and 9th Street
